“It is not about delivering ideas or dreams, it’s about making them physical. And that’s a big challenge.”
On the heels of the brand’s Starter Black Label collaboration, Acne Studios fired up for Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2020, displaying a range of progressive menswear looks. The collection sees this modern Swedish brand showcasing off-kilter appliqué to further distinguish its fashion-forward garments.
Lightweight over shirts and slouchy blazers create seasonal staples. Rebuilt with wanton flair — one shirt has enormous barrel sleeves and partial contrast stitching, while a light blazer seems untouched until you consider the notched lapel that poking into the collar.
From reworked classics to all-new up-cycled jeans, the Acne Studio collection is made up of straight cut silhouettes with the majority of looks in muted colours, with some pops of saturation here and there. A mix of complimentary pieces such as a raglan hoodie, a patchwork T-shirt dress and a bucket hat made from reused denim round off the collection nicely.
SS19 key items include the patchwork jeans, which feature two tones of denim throughout, as well as the selection of oversized workwear-inspired denim jackets. Most notably of all is a saturated blue jacket with contrast white stitching, sporting two large chest pockets, gold buttons and well cut straight leg trousers.
The collection also brings us a long denim jacket, which plays on the workwear silhouettes, and for a ’90s Americana feel, a varsity jacket with distressed patches, striped ribbed cuffs, collar and waistband and shiny contrast gold buttons.
